So, who is that guy anyway?

To those who don’t know, I suppose introductions are in order.

My name is Louis Monnich II. I am a 37 year-old painter/illustrator from Houston, TX who has come back from an almost decade-long artist’s block with an absolute vengeance!

As for my background, my total being has been ingrained in Art and Music for as long as I can remember. For a while there, you almost never saw me without a piece of paper and a pencil in my hands doodling away at anything that came to mind. So, it’s no surprise that through minimal encouragement, I decided to expand my horizons at The Art Institute of Houston (don’t do this, by the way!). After graduation, I immediately got a job as a graphic designer, which was pretty much the start of my ever-deteriorating mental stability and the aforementioned artist’s block.

(cue the harps) 7 years, one marriage, one mountain of debt, and various jobs later….

A light shone in the void I had created in the world: my AWESOME wife, Jenniffer (not a misspelling, I promise). With her support and encouragement, I picked the pencil and the brush back up, headed back to school, this time a proper one (U of H), and am now enrolled in the School of Fine Arts. So, with the help of Jenniffer and my awesome son, Sebastian, the right side of the brain came out of hibernation and is now working nonstop!

Part 2!

Things came and went, and Jenn and I got divorced, but the influence to paint still remained! Now, I’m currently an instructor at Painting with a Twist on Westheimer! Check me out on their website to see when I’m on stage next!

In THIS blog though, you’ll find the paintings and drawings I have done in the past years as well as other little jots & tittles I come up with. Also, stay tuned because I aim to sell some things too!

So, come on in and let me know what you think!
